WRX STI 2.5 Head gasket repair & Upgrade
Option
The Subaru EJ257 engine's head gasket failure is a common problem with the Impreza WRX/STI 2006 onwards. It can present itself in low or high-millage cars alike. Typical symptoms are as follows.
- Overheating on or off boost
- The smell of carbon gases in the water system
- The pressurisation of the water system resulting in an overflow of the plastic expansion tank
The fix is simple. We remove the engine and install up-rated head studs and gaskets while servicing and skimming cylinder heads. For cars running up to 450BHP, this ensures no further head gasket issues.
